Why support the Bix Museum through membership?
As a non-profit organization, the Bix Beiderbecke Museum relies on a variety of funding to support its operations, preserve its collection, and continue developing programming to better serve our mission of keeping Bix’s legacy alive in the Quad Cities.
The preservation of our local history is not only important to understanding our cultural identity, but it serves as inspiration for those in the community to achieve great things. Bix’s life and music put Davenport on the map in the 1920s as a culturally significant place in American music history. His universal story as a man from small-town Iowa who defied the means he grew up in to follow his passion, paving the way for the evolution of American music as we know it, is one of immense inspiration and pride for our community. Through a permanent exhibit chronicling Bix's life and legacy and the housing of the largest archives dedicated to the subject, the Bix Museum provides the most robust resource in the world dedicated to the preservation of that story in Bix's own hometown, so that generations of Quad Citizens will continue to be inspired and learn from our community's rich history.
