What do I love most: our Bix community and the experiences…

In 2025, the Bix Museum moved our museum across the street to the City Square Building at 112 W 2nd St. in Downtown Davenport. Now directly across the street from the former location of Bix’s grandfather’s Beiderbecke and Miller Grocery store. The new street-level location is more visible than our basement location; that spot was prone to flooding.

In the past 9 months, we celebrated 100 years of “Davenport Blues” by hosting jazz concerts featuring NOLA, BYOBrass, and Gunhild Carling. On December 7th, Ben Rosenblum returns with Laura Anglade to finish the year of jazz programming. We acquired Miff Mole’s trombone, and musician Mike Davis played it live during this year’s Bix Fest. We reached thousands of community members by participating in block parties, fairs, and other community events, where the Bix Museum shared previews of our new space.

During our relocation, and as we move into the new year, we remain thankful for your continued support. Bix Museum staff and Board are hard at work moving the museum into its new space. This project would not have been possible without raising $100,000 from the Bix community and grants. Due to construction delays, our re-opening has been pushed to 2026.

Getting the museum move through the finish line needs the support of Bix nation. Our new home will make us more sustainable, better protect our collections, and make Bix’s Legacy more visible in the Quad Cities.
